Marcus is a director, practitioner, and dramaturg. His productions have been performed in venues across the UK and also in Paris. His work is characterised by a strong ensemble ethos and a spirit of collaboration, incorporating active storytelling, movement and chorus work. As Artistic Director of Cyphers Theatre Company, he has directed Henry V, Great Expectations, The Three Musketeers, Northanger Abbey and Orlando. He is Associate Director at Sheepish Productions and has directed four pieces of new writing for the company. Marcus also works extensively in schools – he is a Stage Director for the Coram Shakespeare Schools Festival and has worked as a Staff Director for West End In Schools. For many years, Marcus worked in artist development for the Barbican Centre in London, working on projects with Cheek By Jowl, Complicite and the RSC. As a workshop leader, he has worked in universities across the UK, including King’s College London, University College London and Durham University.
