We would like to welcome you to the 8th Attiko School of Ancient Drama! Our summer school will take place from the 25th of August to the 3rd of September at the city of Eleusis. For 2020, the theme of the 8th Attiko School is Love in Ancient Drama.
From 2012 to 2019 Attiko School developed its action through the collaboration with institutions, foundations, organizations, artists and groups from Greece and abroad playing a decisive role to the creation of the International Network of Ancient Drama, which is under the auspices and the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports since July 2017. Since 2017 the Attiko School of Ancient Drama forms part of the scope of activities of Eleusis 2021- European Capital of Culture.

The 8th Attiko School of Ancient Drama will take place from the 25th of August to the 3rd of September 2020 and is intended for any individual over 18 years old, professional or not, interested in Ancient drama and its modern interpretation.

Just for this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by the State, the Attiko School will host only 25 students on its programme. 25 scholarships will be given and the selection of students will be carried out in order of priority.

The programme so far includes:

  • Theatrical performance "Under the stars" by Tilemachos Tsardakas

  • "The songs of shame" with Natalia Lampadaki
  • “Now Eros shakes my soul...” presentation of the 2019-20 Baumstrasse workshop "Love in Ancient Drama"
    Amorous text passages from the ancient Greek literature. Teaching, passage selection: Martha Frintzila
  • Presentation the 2019-20 Baumstrasse workshop "Symposium” (or “About Love”)
    A “short length” discussion on love based on Plato with the participation of the Baumstrasse students. Workshop coordinators: Mihalis Panadis, Mariella Panagiotou
  • Μateria” Dance performance by KÓKA&PANÚ
    Concept, creation, choreography, performance: Konstantina Efthimiadou, Panagiotis Manouilidis
  • “JANI CHRISTOU (1926-1970) - From sound to the entirety of art”
    Presentation/Lecture with director and musicologist Costis Zouliatis
  • Karagiozis performance with the Athens Shadow Theatre Company of Athos Danellis
  • “LOVE KILLS: Songs of love” Lecture and reading on “Love in ancient drama”

Furthermore, free educational film screenings are scheduled for the public.

The Attiko School of Ancient Drama is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Eleusis 2021- European Capital of Culture.
